28th August – Round 1

4th September – Round 2

Manurewa Raiders 11.12 78 defeated Waitakere Magpies 7. 6 48

Goal Scorers: Raiders - Telfer 5.
Best Players: Raiders - Telfer, Flay, Fakatoumafi, Coultard, Thompson and Gunning.
In a hard, physical match with both teams showing some skilful passages of play, Manurewa defeated an improving Magpies team. Raiders veteran Telfer was the games best player, dominating in front of goals, kicking 5 goals. Telfer was assisted by Flay, Fakatoumafi and coach Coultard.

11th September - Round 3

University Blues 14.10 94 defeated Manurewa Raiders 6.2 38

Best players: Thompson, Flay, Telfer, Garlick and Gunning.
University were too strong in all areas of the game, gaining first use of the ball enabling them to dominate the first two quarters. Power was very good in the Ruck for the blues. The Blues height and aerial strength also caused the Raiders problems. Manurewa tried hard all day but could not maintain possession and had too many turnovers.

18th September - Round 4

Manurewa Raiders 4.9 33 defeated Takapuna Eagles 4.5 29

Goal scorers: Telfer1, Straker 1, Dunlop 1, Fewster 1.
Best Players: Thompson, Dunlop, Flay, Bromby.
The wind was the dominant feature of the game. Both teams came out wanting the ball first which met with several heavy collisions in the centre square. Kicking with the wind Manurewa had a 15 point lead at the first change. At half time the scores were even at 16 points each. An inspirational mark from coach Mick Coultard in the third term fired the Raiders but the tenacity and discipline of the Eagles backline was too good and once again kept the Raiders to only 2 : 4. Manurewa doubled Takapuna's score in the third quarter and this was sufficient to keep them ahead for the remainder of the game.

Sunday 2nd October - Round 5

Manurewa Raiders 8.6 54 points defeated Mt Roskill Saints 4.8 32 points

Goal scorers: S. Telfer 2, D. Straker 2, P. Miles 2, Coultard and Henderson 1.
Best players: Telfer Rolton, Henderson, Langford, Gunning and Straker.
In extremely wet conditions at May Road, the Manurewa Raiders, led by experienced trio Coulthard Telfer & Gunning proved too strong for Mt Roskill. With the ball being like a cake of soap to handle, the Raiders were able to adapt to the conditions better getting numbers to the ball and using their possession well. Raiders coach Coulthard, playing loose across half back combined well with veteran Gunning in the midfield and along with a much improved back up crew, set up many of the Raiders scoring opportunities.

Sunday 9th October - Round 6

North Shore Tigers 15.11 101 points defeated Manurewa Raiders 7.7 49 points

Best players: P. Gunning, S Telfer.
In slippery conditions, the Tigers showed strength all over the ground to easily account for the much improved Raiders. The Tigers defensive 6 were outstanding with Jason Pocock curbing the Raiders playmakers in Telfer and Coultard. The Raiders were restricted to just 2 goals in the first three quarters. A 5 goal last quarter salvaged some respect for the Raiders, after being 12 goals down at the last break.

Sunday 16th October - Round 7

Manurewa Raiders 9.10 64 points defeated Waitakere Magpies 5.7 42 points

Goals: Telfer 6.
Best players: Telfer, Coultard, Rutter.

A Steve Telfer inspired Raiders team accounted for an improved Magpies outfit by 22 points. Telfer was essentially the difference between the two teams, taking numerous marks around the ground and kicking 6 goals in a best on ground performance. He was well supported by Coultard and Rutter. The Raiders are having a great year and are equal top of the ladder with the Saints and University. Credit must go to the Raiders committee and especially coach Coultard for moulding a very competitive unit this season.

Sunday 30th October - Round 8

University Blues 13.11.89 points defeated Manurewa Raiders 6.5.41 points

This game was tipped to be a close game and was an even tussle at the start with both teams kicking two goals a piece before the Blues were able to break away. The 2nd and 3rd quarters were hard fought, even affairs with both backlines repelling numerous advances. University had better use of the ball in the last quarter with their senior players in the midfield stepping up another cog and as a result, were able to seal the game. The Raiders had a number of key players out however fought hard.

Sunday 6th November - Round 9

Manurewa Raiders 8.10.58 points defeated Takapuna Eagles 4.4.28 points

Best players: Gunning and Telfer

After an even first half, the Eagles went into the main break with a 9 point lead. A tactical change from Raiders coach Coultard in the third quarter paid off for Manurewa, enabling them to hit the front and retain the lead for the remainder of the game. Raiders veterans Gunning and Telfer were outstanding for the winners.

Reserves: Eagles 5.7.37 points defeated Manurewa Raiders 1.2 8 points

Sunday 13th November - Round 10

Mt Roskill Saints 17.10.112 points defeated Manurewa Raiders 5.4.34 points

Raiders Goal Scorers: Michael Dunlop 2, Mark Flay 1, Paul Gunning 1, James Rattray 1
Raiders Best Players: Michael Dunlop, Steve Telfer, Mark Flay, Dougal Henderson

A brilliant 7-goal performance by Saints spearhead Steve Fairweather helped the Saints thrash the Raiders at Mountfort Park. What made the win more impressive was that the Raiders were close to full strength with the return of NZ Squad member Alex Fakatoumafi after his injury spell.

Reserves: Manurewa Raiders 3.5.24 points defeated Mt Roskill Saints 3.2.20 points
